does anyone have any details about laurie oakes bid for preselection for liberal party?

First I've heard of it but I'm a little surprised that he would want to join the Libs. Surely a man who has watched politicians for so long would have a fairly jaundiced view of political parties and their activities. I'll believe it when I see it.
