DUI Suspect Faces Judge While Community Mourns Victim
California Highway Patrol officers say Sheng-Ting Shih, 32, of Walnut, slammed his 2012 BMW into 23-year-old George Derkrikorian’s 2001 Ford early Sunday in the eastbound lanes of Highway 60 west of Brea Canyon Road in Diamond Bar. Derkrikorian had been traveling behind slow traffic when Shih sped up and slammed into his vehicle, CHP officials said. Shih’s passenger, Nancy Yinan Lane, 30, was treated at San Dimas Community Hospital, according to the CHP. “This extremely devastating incident should be a lesson to all of us to NEVER ever drink and drive, no matter what the circumstances may be,” officials with Armenian Mesrobian School in Pico Rivera said on its website. Shih is scheduled to appear in Pomona Superior Court at 8:30 a. m. Tuesday. Derkrikorian had been a student at the school. Derkrikorian died at the scene of the crash.
