After it received flight certification in 1956, Taylor made a deal for it to be mass-produced, but he never received the 500 orders that were a condition of the deal. L The Airphibian, designed in 1945 by Robert Edison Fulton Jr. It featured a removable tail and set of wings, and became the first flying car to get a conditional flight certification. With a steering wheel in the cockpit and a Studebaker engine under the hood, it was able to fly, but it was never mass-produced because of the Great Depression. It featured folding wings attached to a removable tail section. L The Aerocar, designed in 1949 by Molt Taylor. It managed a few hops, according to some reports, but it never succeeded in flying. L The ConvAirCar, designed in 1947 by Theodore P. Hall.

Has posted a six and a half minute video of the inventor, Song Youzhou, explaining the idea, including how the bus works and current plans to make it a reality within the year. And the compact urban design here means that space is a rare and precious resource - and this design has the potential to save tons of space. I think the 'Straddling Bus' is an exciting example of how designers are imagining the future of transportation. It will be interesting to see how this project moves from concept to reality, and according to Youzhou, we won't have to wait long. Note I think this is a super-neat design - especially the part about "relay charging" at each station....
