Would I have faster network throughput if I just set all NICs to 100mbs Full Duplex, or Auto Negotiation?
Assuming all NICs have a top speed of 100mbs, will I be better off taking the negotiation out of the equation?
I'm just wondering if there is any downside to this? Is this a way of squeezing out a tiny bit more speed?
If you set one end to 100/full and leave the other at auto, you should get a duplex mismatch because you have turned negotiation off. A duplex mismatch will be the worst combination for performance.
Speed can be detected without negotiation
If you add up the expenses you spent last month, would you be able to make the following -- and rather audacious -- statement: "I saved over $1400 on everything from auto repairs to groceries by negotiating"? Meet Nancy James Fox, Long Beach's own
